"NICKEL STEEL" is stamped on the left barrel flat behind the rear sight. The caliber, ".25-20 W.C.F.", is stamped on the top of the barrel in front of the receiver. Serial Number: 275046
Condition:
Excellent. The rifle retains nearly 95% of the original blue and case-hardened finish. The barrel and half-magazine have nearly all of the blue finish intact. The only significant wear are some traces of surface discoloration on the right side of the barrel. The blue finish on the forearm cap and takedown collar shows some thinning on contact points. The bolt and receiver have nearly 95% of the blue finish with some minor edge wear on the top of the receiver and some thinning on the bottom of the receiver ahead of the lever. The loading gate has about 80% of the niter blue finish. The hammer and the sides of the lever have strong case colors. The case colors on the bottom of the lever have faded to a silver patina. The buttplate has a mellow patina. All of the markings are crisp and the bore is bright. The stock and forearm are in excellent condition with no significant handling marks. The oiled finish on the forearm has some light handling wear and the checkering on the forearm and pistol grip is slightly flattened from handling. This is an excellent example of a deluxe, special order, Winchester Model 1892 Takedown Rifle with many special order features. This excellent rifle would be a stand-out piece in the most advanced Winchester collection.
