Offered for sale is a Very rare and original, 1890's Sporting / Horse Racing Subject Chromo Lithographed Boxed Board Game titled "National Steeple Chase" manufactured by J. H. Singer of New York City. This wonderful, American Sporting Themed Boxed Board Game features its original, wood frame, paperboard box. The top panel of the Box lid features a fantastic, all over, pastedown chromolithograph illustration depicting jockeys wearing racing silks riding horses in a cross country Steeple Chase along with a portrait of a beautiful young female jockey. The Game Board is affixed to the inner surface of the base of the Box and features a circular "track" with a fantastic view of the grandstands of a race track at the top and images of a steeple chase in progress and of the stables of the racetrack within the game track. The Game is near complete and includes all 6 of the horse shaped, chromolithographed surface game pieces, 4 of the 6 lead game piece bases, the original insert with game instructions printed on the bottom and 35 numbered cards which appear to represent betting tokens. The spinner is attached to the center of the board. This rare item has been previously estimated $1200 to $1500. It shows good condition for its age. It measures 26" L x 11" W x 1 1/2" Thick
