Beaded front and groove sights, with the top of the barrel marked "SILVER & FLETCHER'S PATENT 'THE EXPERT'" and the top strap is marked "S.W. SILVER & Co / CORNHILL LONDON". The left side of the barrel has two British proofs and the caliber marking (450). British proofs are also present on the cylinder flutes and right side of frame. The sides of the frame, top strap and cylinder have an extensive matte pattern engraving and the trigger guard is also engraved. The serial number is stamped on the left frame side and the number "157" on the front of the frame. Fitted with a checkered one piece grip and a lanyard ring on the butt. The upside down hammer "spur" is the safety and rotating counter clockwise withdraws the firing pin. As the cylinder rotates by the pull of the trigger, the hook type ejector at the top of the frame slides under the rim of the cartridge and when the hammer falls, it hits the left end causing the cartridge to pivot, throwing the shell out of the cylinder. Dowell estimates that only a few hundred were made with the high number known being 208 (see "The Webley Story", page 677). Complete with a partitioned wooden case lined with blue, brass corner protectors, and a S.W. Silver & Co. leather logo on the inside of the lid. Includes an oiler and a cleaning rod.
BBL: 4 1/2 inch flat top
Stock:
Gauge: 450 CF
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 33422
Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% original blue finish with the balance a brown patina showing some loss at the muzzle and a smooth gray patina on the front strap and trigger guard. The grip is excellent with a few mild handling marks. The checkering is crisp. The case is very fine with exception of some cracking on the lid and some minor handling marks. The lining shows minor wear. Writer cannot recall ever seeing another cased one of these. A very unique revolver!
