Rare Antique Colt Single Action Army Flattop London Target Model Revolver in 450 Boxer Caliber with

Estimate: $16000 - 22500
Manufactured in 1888. The Colt Single Action Army Flattop revolver is one of the most highly sought after models by Colt collectors. Colt only produced 925 Flattop Models and only manufactured 89 in the 450 Boxer caliber making this Flattop Target Model very rare. Adding to the rarity of this revolver is the fact that only a few had the London address on the barrel. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT' S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14 PALL MALL LONDON". The three line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame. There is no Rampant Colt present and the upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "45CAL/B". British proofs are present on the underside of the barrel ahead of the cylinder pin and a "crown/GP" and "crown/V" on the cylinder between each chamber. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The front strap is period engraved "A 491". Removable brass blade front and dovetailed rear sights, blue finish with niter blue trigger and hammer with polished sides and fitted with checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt/American Eagle relief grips. The accompanying factory letter addressed to Raymond Vangeh on August 25, 1961 verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, rubber grips target frame and that it was shipped to Colt's London Agency, London England on December 27, 1888. The letter also states that they do not know what the "A 497" on the front strap signifies.
