Rare 6-bore side by side double-barrel flintlock big game rifle by H. W. Mortimer of London, gunmaker to his majesty. The massive rifle measures 49-1/4” overall, with 32-3/4” barrels that measure over 2-1/2” across the breech. The rifle weighs approx. 16-1/4 pounds. The barrels are deeply rifled from breech to muzzle and shot a huge over 3oz ball. The rifle shows full signature in block letters on barrel, H. W. Mortimer, London, and is signed in script on both locks. The rear of locks are engraved with leopard. The triggerguard and mounts similarly engraved with cats that are somewhat whimsical. The triggerguard shows typical Mortimer sunburst at rear portion and a very nice curled back. The stock is select walnut, nicely checkered, with a wood patchbox. The barrel shows wide gold band and gold touch holes and gold-lined pans. The lock is in its original flintlock configuration with proper hammers, top jaws, springs, and small parts. The barrels show 90-95% bright original tobacco brown English stripped finish. The locks show considerable case hardening drifting to grey on hammers and frizzen, some erosion and pinprick pitting, generally very good overall. The mounts

Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries.
