Featured in this lot we have a railroad velocipede handcart without outrigger originating from the 1880's. The velocipede, also known as a pump trolley, was in popular use during the 1880's. They where used primarily by railroad inspectors, crosstie inspectors, or telegraph line repairers as a easy way to move along the tracks allowing for personal inspections. The handcart has a seating capacity of two, and can be operated by one. The velocipede frame is constructed out white ash with the tires, axles, and crank shaft are all made of iron. The handcart also come with a metal stand. The velocipede is in good condition overall for its age, it shows some wear due to age and use, it also is missing its outrigger. The velocipede measures 70" long by 16 1/2" wide.
