Commemorating Ronald Wilson Reagan, “the Great Communicator” and 40th President of the United States.The Stamp First Day Cover features the official first-class 37-cent stamp issued by the USPS on February 9, 2005, just eight months after the passing of one of the most memorable President’s of the 20th century. The Memorial Stamp First Day Cover also Includes an official U.S. Mint bronze medallion depicting a portrait of the former President and the words “Let Us Renew Our Faith and Our Hope, We Have Every Right to Dream Heroic Dreams” taken from Reagan’s 1981 Inauguration speech. Each Memorial Stamp First Day Cover contains a genuine 1950 California “gold rush” statehood stamp where President Reagan enjoyed his personal life and was the former governor of the state.
Perhaps the most significant feature included is the “First Day of Issue” postmark in Simi Valley, California - the location of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. A former movie star and Governor of California, he guided America into an era of unprecedented prosperity and was one of the most popular Presidents of all time. He died on June 5, 2004, and was buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California. On February 9, 2005, the U.S. Postal Service issued a special memorial postage stamp honoring Reagan.
