RCA Radiola VIII model AR 812, early portable
This was the first radio to use the superheterodyne circuit still widely used in AM radios today. The copper rings inside each of the two tuning dials snap in and out while the twin pointers unscrew to allow paper inserts to be installed. When a station was tuned in these inserts could be marked and labeled. When the operator wanted to tune that station again they reloaded that insert, reset the dial pointers and there it was. It was the superheterodyne circuit that made this precise tuning possible. This radio is in nice condition and still contains its hookup diagrams on the removable doors. no tubes
