RARE SPRINGFIELD ARMS BELT MODEL REVOLVER.

Cal. 31. S# 217. Bbl. 5" round with brass post sight. Mfg. 1851 with total estimate of 350 (some sources say 100 but this is #217) before ceasing due to Colt's lawyers bringing patent infringement proceedings (Colt also went after Mass. Arms, Conn. Arms, etc.). Center hammer model offered in 3 single trigger patent variations: Jacquith, Warner and Warner with loading lever assembly (4th variation had loading lever and double triggers). 6 rd. unfluted cyl. with matching number on rear. Right side or top strap would have the patent name markings; none readable on this revolver. Serial number on right side under grips; left grip usually numbered; no numbers on this one. Cylinders had etched decorations as did sides of frame. Finish was case colored frames and blued barrels. Although markings of patent style not readable, profile indicates Warner style. CONDITION: poor to fair overall with brown patina mixed with cleaned light oxidation and loss of markings and decorations except on top strap plus faint marks on left side of frame. Missing cylinder pawl so no rotation. Replacement top strap retaining screw. Right grip appears mismatched with curved chisel gouge marks on back yet screw bushing appears correct. Half cock notch functioning but not full cock. Fair cylinder chambers with good nipples. Fair pitted bore with clear rifling of 7 grooves and lands. (01-22147/NW). ANTIQUE. $500-750.
