SCOPES. Cal. 30-06. S# 40853. Bbl 22". Announced in by Remington in late 191 to preview in a 1942 catalog, the Model 720's production was abruptly halted due to the United States sudden entry into World War II, resulting in only 2,500 Model 720 rifles having been produced. Manufactured on a streamlined US Model 1917 action, this example is stamped "MODEL-720" over the serial number "40853", with Remington's trademark logo on the right. Left side of barrel bears the caliber designation "SPRINGFIELD./ 30 CAL. 1906", with factory proofs and the date code "LL" on the right. Metal components are blued, with the bolt assembly (minus the bolt shroud) and the scope mount being in-the-white. Trigger guard and floorplate are comprised of black anodized aluminum. 1 piece checkered wood straight comb sporter stock with rubber recoil pad and brown leather sling. Stock features non-factory brass on the top, bottom, and sides of the wrist. Ramp brass bead front sight, with dovetailed provision for a rear iron sight. Sporting rear sight elevator is not present. Weaver Model 330 scope fitted on an aftermarket Griffin & Howe sidemount. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Weaver K2.5 scope on a Griffin & Howe sidemount. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some mild wear, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits some scattered marks from handling and storage, with wear and losses to the varnish overall.
