The lot features an excellent rare original Wilbert Secatero Navajo Native American Indian nice size sterling silver concho belt with a good vintage age. The belt shows a rectangular buckle which is expertly tooled with an oval central design with scalloped edge and is finely marked on the reverse, "WILBERT SECATERO / STERLING" (showing a southwestern cliff and dancing figure along with an old trading post price of $1,900.00). The belt, which is constructed of a black commercial leather that is 1 1/4 inches wide, shows eleven oval conchos (also referred to as conchas) having an expertly crafted matching design with central diamond pattern with scalloped fancy edge. The conchos and buckle all show a fine domed construction. The conchos each show two copper loop construction. The belt shows a nice even patina, a sign of its nice vintage age. Wilbert Secatero, who also signed his works as "WS" is one of the most renowned master Navajo silversmiths of the mid to late 20th century with his examples regularly selling for between $3,000 and $2,000. The buckle measures 2 1/8"W x 1.75"W. Each concho is 2 1/8"W x 1.75"W. The belt measures 35.25"L.
