For your bidding pleasure is this Grand Banks Fisherman Slate Table w/ Etching. This is a unique piece from the 1920's or 30's the table has a slate top with a diagram titled Grand Banks Fisherman Isaiah L. Jefferson and of a vessel that dates back to around 1896 shown by the 45 star flag presented on the schooner. The condition is very good with minor scratches or chips on the edges consistent from age and use. The "Grand Banks Fisherman,” which refers to a region southeast of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Sebastian Junger's novel The Perfect Storm, and in Rudyard Kipling's novel Captains Courageous both are about fisherman working in this coastal area. This is quite a unusual piece. The measurements of this table are 16" x 28" x 20".
