SOLID PEWTER WITH WOOD BASE, AUTHENTIC FRANCIS BARNUM SCULPTURE, HIGH QUALITY AMERICAN CRAFTSMANSHIP
“Rally Them Blackford” (Pewter sculpture) by Francis Barnum
It’s a limited-edition pewter Civil War cavalry sculpture depicting J.E.B. Stuart and Major John Blackford during a retreat/charge situation near Gettysburg. The famous phrase comes from Stuart calling out “Rally them, Blackford!” as they maneuvered under pressure.
What it is
Title: Rally Them Blackford
Sculptor: Francis Barnum
Medium: Pewter (sometimes also issued in bronze variants)
Theme: Civil War cavalry action (Confederate cavalry, Stuart’s raid context)
Edition: Limited edition collector piece
Why “Barnum / pewter / Blackford” matters
Francis Barnum made a long series of Civil War pewter sculptures (high-detail historical figurines).
“Pewter” is the collectible medium used for many of his pieces.
“Blackford” refers to the Confederate officer in the scene, not P.T. Barnum.
