The lot features a collection of seven believed to be spurious examples of Native America Indian Presidential Peace Treaty Medals. The lot includes the following: a 1789 George Washington "Peace and Friendship", a second 1794 George Washington Medal "E Pluribus Unum" on one side, a 1879 John Adams Peace and Friendship medal, an 1801 Thomas Jefferson Peace and Friendship medal, an 1817 James Monroe Peace and Friendship medal, an 1862 Abraham Lincoln Peace and Friendship medal, and lastly, a 1877 Rutherford B. Hayes Peace Medal. Presidential Peace Medals were presented to chiefs and elders of Native American tribes to maintain peaceful relations as the U.S. began to obtain new lands across North America. These show a fine good condition and detail. The largest one is the Abraham Lincoln medal, which measures 2 7/8" across, and about 1/4" thick. The medals have not been examined by an expert and are being sold as-is where is with no returns. Age and originality unknown.
