Presentation single shot rifle with Martini style falling block action scroll engraved in gold inlaid by maker on the frame and signed “F. Bernard, Arq., Marseille”. The stock shows an original engraved silver plaque that is inscribed“Carabine D’ Honneur, offerte, a Mr. Eugene Traham, Directeur Honoraire de la Societe de Tir, de Marseille, Par ses Camarades & Amis, en Souvenir des Services qu’il a renu ala Societe, depuis sa foundation, 1867 Au Stand, le 18De’cembre 1887”. The rifle measures 49” overall with 32” octagon barrel which measures 11 mm. The rifle remains in fine to near excellent condition showing 90% to 95% original blue on the barrel. The frame shows 75% to 85% original case hardening dulling slightly. The deluxe checkered wood stocks are in very good plus condition with some minor scratches and normal aging. The rifle is mounted with double set triggers, sling swivels and shows a sliding rear sight and target typeadjustable for windage front sight. The action is tight and the bore is good and may clean but is full of dirt. The rifle is contained within its original felt lined French fitted case with cleaning rod, horn handle screwdriver and a bore
