Presentation Remington Rolling Block rifle, .45 cal., 36” barrel, nickel finish, wood stocks with plaque in right side of butt stock stating “Presented to First Sergeant Daniel N. Milley by Gen. Adrian R. RootCommanding D Co. Buffalo City Guard April 30th 1883 as an acknowledgement of faithful service”; also a stylized D inlay to the left side of the butt stock inscribed “Semper Paratus” (Always Ready); accompanied by asocket bayonet. This gun is in overall very good condition showing the majority of its frosty nickel finish with some scattered wear and spots of erosion, overall good bore, crisp action and good patent address on upper tang; sling swivels present as is the iron cleaning rod; bayonet is in overall good condition and matches the finish of the gun; in our opinion, the presentation plaques are original and to the period; would beinteresting to further research Milley and the date of this gift to determine his service record, etc. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
