You have the opportunity to bid on this circa Prehistoric corrugated brownware jar. "Corrugated" here refers to the textured uneven outer surface of the jar. Corrugated jars such as this were used for cooking; they were placed directly in the fire pit, propped up with rocks or sitting in the coals. Since the corrugations increase the surface area of the vessel, they capture heat otherwise lost; therefore they require less fuel to heat the contents. This jar features a corrugated body, everted 45-degree rim, and a well smoothed interior. The jar measures about 18" tall and is about 15.5" wide. The jar is in good condition for its age it does have a crack at the top that extends about a quarter of the way down.
