This is an excellent and very desirable Colt First Model Woodsman with a Colt-King Super Target Conversion package manufactured in 1938. The conversion consists of milling a slot in top of the slide and frame over the chamber of the barrel. A full length sight adjustable for elevation and windage was added to the slide. A ventilated rib sight with reflector was added to the front of the frame and barrel. It is marked "COLT-KING SUPER TARGET" on the left side. Also a tubular barrel weight was installed underneath the barrel and one can install different weights inside the tube. It is marked "KING / PATENT" on the knurled and slotted cap at the front. The weight installed on this one is turned steel and appears to be filled with some other material per King's patent. The front sight blade can be removed and different heights installed. The side of the barrel is marked with the standard Colt two-line address and patent markings and the side of the receiver and slide have the standard markings. Serrated trigger and two tone Colt marked magazine and fitted with smooth ivory grips. This is a very desirable variation of a Colt Woodsman.
