Manufactured in 1940. This series of pistols have the slab sided, medium weight barrel that is marked on top "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./PAT. DES.110. 887" with the adjustable Kelly type blade front sight and adjustable target rear. The left side of the barrel has the large circular target with the words "MATCH" and "TARGET" above and below the target, next to "THE WOODSMAN" on the frame. The left side of the slide is marked "COLT", and "AUTOMATIC/CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. It has the correct blue Colt magazine that is marked on the bottom "COLT WOODSMAN/CAL. 22 L.R." fitted with original elephant ear checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions. Complete with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun, screwdriver, bore brush, hanging tag, papers and an extra 6 1/2 inch Match Target barrel.

Condition: Very fine with 90% plus original blue finish remaining, showing some muzzle and high edge wear, and some scattered light spotting and minor scratches. The grips are excellent with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The extra barrel retains 95% original finish with thinning/wear on the breech end sides, and a few minor scratches and dents. The box is good with the front flap of the lid absent and some wear and flaking of the paper covering.
