The lot features a unique and unusual Pre-Columbian Mayan culture ceremonial fetish smoking pipe dating to circa 500 A.D. The piece was said to have been found in the jungles of Belize on an expedition in 1932 by and from the collection of Dr. Paul Herrington and Gordon Hart. The pipe shows a terracotta clay manufacture with artfully carved designs having a lizard effigy smoking tip and death mask effigy above the pottery-styled smoking chamber. The piece shows no breaks or repairs and is in excellent condition for its age. This is truly a terrific item for the serious collector of Pre-Columbian, Neolithic, and Pre-Historic art. Measures overall 3.5"L x 1.5" tall.
