Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 94 Carbine in .30-30 WCF that was made in 1957. The .30-30 is perhaps the most popular deer cartridge in America, and the 94 chambered for this classic round is nearly synonymous with "deer rifle". This rifle is in Fine condition with 96% of its metal finish remaining, minor wear in the stocks and strong mechanics. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. This rifle could be back out in the field dropping deer for another lifetime. As a pre-64 example of the 94 Carbine in its condition, it would also be a nice addition to a Winchester collection missing a post-war 94 Carbine. Please see our photos and good luck!

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a banded forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and a checkered steel buttplate. There are some scattered scuffs, draglines, and compressions throughout, though the most notable can be seen on the left side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the checkered buttplate, which shows thinning along the edges and a small amount of oxidation near the heel. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is a small amount of erosion near the muzzle and some fouling on the lands. In this writer’s opinion and for the age, the bore rates a 8.5 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is light surface oxidation on the lever and some freckles on the left side of the receiver. There are some infrequently scattered light nicks and scratches throughout the surfaces. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
