Pre-1898 Colt Single Action Army Revolver
Manufactured in 1896. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "41 COLT" on the left side and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the assembly number "901" is marked on the loading gate. Casehardened frame and hammer, with blue on the remaining parts, period modified front sight (filed down), frame notch rear sight, and fitted with two piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Condition: Very good. The barrel and ejector housing retain 40% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The cylinder retains 20% original finish, mainly in the flutes, mixed with brownish gray patina and some minor spotting. The trigger guard and grip straps have a smooth gray patina with strong original blue finish in protected areas. The hammer shows much of the original case colors in protected areas and the frame has a smooth grayish brown patina with some pin prick type pitting. The grips are fine with moderate wear, scattered minor dents and dings and crisp checkering. The action needs work, the cylinder rotates when the action is cocked or decocked and the hammer doesn't hold a half cock position
