This is an excellent example of an early post WWI Luger that was arsenal reworked after WWI into a late Weimar Police Luger, (as noted by the number 8 added to the serial number) then later reworked by the addition of the sear safety, along with "PTV/Eagle" Simson Rework proof on the rear of the barrel, indicating that the barrel was replaced. These Lugers were specifically issued to early German Police units during the early to mid Weimar era and then again in the early Nazi era. The top of the chamber is marked "1921" indicating the year of rework with the front toggle assembly correctly marked "DWM" for Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken, the original manufacturer. As noted the right side of the barrel is marked with the two "PTV" proofs, with the underside of the barrel correctly numbered "3206a", along with an "Eagle/N" commercial proof. The top of the side plate has the small spring left over from the sear safety mechanism, which is typical of Police Lugers produced during this time frame. The pistol has a standard rust blued finish with straw colored small parts and unnumbered checkered walnut grips. This Luger is complete with two stainless steel Haenel/Schmeisser milled magazines with the aluminum bases, with each one stamped with the full serial number (83206) over "1" and "2" respectively. It is complete with an original black leather Luger holster that is marked on the back "Kern Klager & Cie/1936/Berlin/Eagle proof" and an original Luger takedown tool that is marked with a single "Crown/S and */F" proof.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 83206a
Condition: Excellent as arsenal reworked with 95% plus of the original rust blued finish with wear on the edges and high spots overall, with some very minor pin-prick pitting on top of the chamber area under the blue finish. The various small parts retain 70% of their straw colored finish. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering overall. The holster is in excellent condition with a nice black color overall with nice tight white stitching and clear sharp markings. The Luger has all matching numbers except the grips, and is an excellent example of a late Weimar/early Nazi Police Luger pistol.
