Pope-Ballard custom single-shot target rifle, .32-40 caliber, with bullet starter, false muzzle, double-set triggers, fancy deluxe burl walnut stock, double set triggers with wood panel insert in extended lever.Adjustable windage and elevation Pope-type tang sight, adjustable front sight. Period engraved action showing deluxe Nimschke style scrolls. Action #7716, barrel is marked “Stevens-Pope”, J. Stevens address. Thebottom of the barrel is marked P-571, and “13/124”. The barrel measures 30” and is of medium to slightly heavy weight. The action shows 30-50% toning case hardening. The barrel shows some drifting at the edges. Thestock shows a radical drop and is well made in the 1900-1920 era in styling. The metal surfaces are in very good condition, the wood is also very good. The false muzzle is numbered to match.
