This is an excellent original pipe tomahawk from the Plains Native American Indians from the 19th Century. The pipe tomahawk shows a forged iron head with punctured spotted design and a half moon overlay across the blade. The piece also shows a very rare threaded brass pipe bowl which iserts into the threaded tomahawk head. The tomahawk shows a wonderful solid wood haft having a curved or bowed pattern, carved grip area, drilled area previously used for a beaded drop or wrist throng, and exceptional file burned design throughout. Provenance: The piece is from a large private Native American Indian & Old West collection in Saskatchewan, Canada originally purchased from a large Native American Indian collection in Ohio. The piece shows well preserved museum quality condition. Measures overall 27.5"L with a 8.75"L x 3.5"W x 1.5" thick tomahawk head.
