Plains Large Men's Fully Beaded Guantlet Cuffs
The lot features a set of large men's gauntlet cuffs attributed to the Plains Native American Indians of the early-to-mid 1900's. The cuffs show a heavy construction with thick tent canvas-like material covered on the front with glass trade seed beads and on the inside with a floral calico trade cloth. The cuffs have a typical shape, but are in a large size and exhibit an Indian tanned hide fringe at the outside edge. The beadwork is covering both sides and one outside edge in a continuous linear, geometric pattern with sky blue base and pattern colors of semi-translucent red, chalk white, and a semi-translucent pink heart. The outside edge of both pieces has a green trade cloth piping. Each cuff measures 8" wide by 10.5" long when folded (as photographed), with an additional 3.5" long fringe.
