The lot features a stone head axe war club from the Plains Native American Indians dating to the 1930's. The club originally was displayed with a young Rough-legged Hawk tail feather at the top, which has been removed due to the ban (the appearance of this feather truly adds to the authenticity of the piece). The stone head appears to be a rough crafted piece with little attention given to the shape. The haft itself is expertly crafted showsing a wood column which has been wrapped in parfleche rawhide then covered in an Indian tanned hide. The hide covering shows drops of hand cut fringe at the top, the middle and the end of the club. The piece displays very well and appears to be in good condition. The club measures 16 1/2" long with a 5" long by 4" wide stone head. Provenance: From a large Native American weapons and beadwork collection in Great Falls, Montana. THE HAWK / EAGLE FEATHER IS NOT INCLUDED AND HAS BEEN REMOVED.
