This is an excellent early Plains Native American Indian spontoon pipe tomahawk from the renowned Louis Cole Estate in Nashville, Tennessee. The piece shows a solid brass spontoon like tomahawk head with octagonal knotched pipe bowl. The piece show what apprears to be the original solid wood haft having a red mineral pigment patina and scrapped carved design. The tomahawk is believed to date to the late 19th Century to early 20th Century. Louis Cole was a WWII veteran and avid collector of rare American History & Weapons. This piece is one of four that were collected from his estate. The piece measures a total of 18 5/8"L x 9 1/8"W x 3"D x 1 3/8" thick. Review pictures for age and condition.
