This is the first etched variation of "Pinning the Hat", one of Renoir's most engaging compositions. One of the young ladies was Julie Manet, who was Berthe Morisot's daughter and Edouard Manet's niece; the other was her cousin Jeanne. Executed in 1894; this is a lifetime impression published in 1910 for the rare first edition of "Manet & the French Impressionists" by Theodore Duret.
