Philadelphia Derringer marked A. Wurfflein, Philadelphia on barrel. .45 caliber, 1-1/2” barrel, 5-1/2” overall. Full stocked to muzzle. Select grade checkered wood stock. Gold and silver banded at breech withcharacteristic Wurfflein sideplate attached with two lock screws. Engraved German Silver mounts and showing the high quality this maker was noted for. The barrel shows at least 50% original brown with traces ofstriping. The lock shows its satin case hardening with just beginning patina. The stocks are very good plus with crisp checkering and tiger-striped like the Kentucky rifle. There is a small crack by the lock screw which is minor. The breech and bolster show a characteristic star-type Wurfflein proof. The barrel is marked “Cast Steel” and shows seven-groove straight rifling. A crisp and high-quality Philly.Est: $800 - $1,600
