Pettengill Martially marked .44 caliber percussion Army size revolver in very good original condition showing W.W. inspector marks and cartouche on the grips, serial number 4276. Approximately 2000 were purchased by the federalgovernment (Refer Flayderman 7A -080). The metal surfaces show 15% t0 30% original blue drifting to a brownish gray patina with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The loading lever shows considerable case hardeningdrifting to a silvery gray. The grips are very good with some minor dings, mars at the edges and show most of a cartouche with three fancy letters that are not quite legible. The barrel, frame, cylinder and butt show W. W inspection marks andthere is a D inspection on the bottom of the frame near the patent dates. The action works and revolves well. The bore is bright and near excellent.
