This lot gives you the opportunity to bid on a gorgeous museum quality coverlet, expertly crafted by French Immigrant, Peter Lorenz. Lorenz's claim to fame were his two piece coverlets, either joined at the center seam, or sold as a "half coverlet" in a set of two - This coverlet is the mirrored half of the coverlet offered in lot 76a. Peter Lorenz has his fantastic works displayed at not only the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan - but also at the Indiana Museum of Art in Indianapolis. Lorenz was born in France in 1801, and emigrated to the United States as a young man. Census claims Lorenz had worked in Greene County, Ohio, and Wayne County, Indiana, before settling in Germantown Ohio for the remainder of his time. This particular coverlet is signed on the bottom left hand corner with; "Peter Lorenz - 1841", and shows a wonderful tri-color pallet, displaying soft red, navy blue, and off-white. The coverlet has an excessively ornate floral pattern, with the two-headed eagle adorning the outside edge. The coverlet is in very good condition, with wear indicative of age. The piece measures 89 1/4" long, and 37" wide.
