Persian Style Flintlock Musket, Equipped with an East India Company Marked Lock
The overall profile of this weapon is Persian or Middle Eastern in design, particularly in the curvature of the stock and layout of the barrel, with the lock plate appearing to have been salvaged from an English musket. Bead front sight and peep rear sight, with a flared and engraved cannon muzzle, engraved and silver inlaid punch dot and checkerboard patterns, an unclear inscription on tip and a series of six brass barrel bands. The lock plate is marked "HARRISON" between the hammer and flash pan, with "1800" and the symbol of the East India Company to the rear of the hammer. Smooth stock with an engraved metal ramrod, brass clad forearm, sharply curved buttstock with bone and horn geometric inlays and a thick horn buttplate. A brown leather sling is mounted to the forearm with a pair of swivels.
