Period copy of a Henry Deringer in Philadelphia style, approx. 48 caliber, seven-groove rifled, 8” overall, lock and barrel marked Derringer with no “P” proof and very similar styling to Henry Deringer. Thefinial on the triggerguard is somewhat differently shaped as are the escutcheons and inlays. The metal is in good condition showing a deep brown patina finish, scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprickpitting, wood is good with wear to the checkering, normal aging. The action is good, the nipple is somewhat beaten down from firing. A hand-carved ramrod from the period is included. A good quality copy from theperiod, probably by Slotter or other period maker.
