Period copy of Henry Deringer, probably by Slotter, .44 caliber, 7-groove rifled. 1-7/8” barrel, 6-1/4” overall. Full stocked to muzzle. Stamped Deringer of Philadela just behind hammer and at breech. Simulated “P” proof with no starburst around it. The barrel is agent marked “Man’d for A. J. Taylor & Co San Fraco Cala”. Plain German silver nose cap, escutcheons, and endcap behind lock-skrew. The triggerguard shows a pineapple finial and is engraved German silver with a “V” stamp at the bottom. The stock shows typical checkering and there is a bell-shaped inlay at the wrist which is plain and not enraged, and a small unengraved German silver inlay beneath the bolster. The stock is good to very good with even wear from carry. The metal surfaces show a grey patina finish with some light erosion and pinprick pitting.
