65” overall. Half stocked with back action lock circa about 1840s-60s. Stamped “W.L. Evans” near the breech on the flat of the barrel in front of bolster with large hand held die stamps. The center portion of the butt stock is stamped “M.R., U.S.A. 1843” also in hand held die stamps. There was a W.L. Evans in Valley Forge, PA circa 1823-33 which is too earlier a maker for this fowler so we conclude the name may be a owner or agents as Evans is a common name. The condition is good to very good overall with just normal aging and minor imperfections. Silver tear drop front sight. Works fine. JB-32 collection tag. (Antique) Est.: $600-$1200
