Peabody breechloading rifle, possibly .43 Spanish caliber as barrel and receiver show foreign proof marks, 33” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks with two barrel bands, sling swivels and ironcleaning rod. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing a brown patina on the barrel with scattered areas of erosion; frame, lock plate and hammer show pitting and what appears to be restored case colors;fine bore, crisp action, very good wood stocks with some scattered mars, wear and scratches from carry and storage. This model was produced in large quantities during the 1860s and 1870s and chambered for a number of different calibers for foreign export. Est.: $600-$1,200.
