The lot features a stone head war club attributed to the Paiute Native American Indians. The war club shows an early antique worked stone double point war club with carved ridge down the center and drilled hole to hold the stem. The stem is constructed of a thin long carved hard wood branch and is wrapped with red, yellow, and blue stroud trade clothe. The head is secured to the haft with a scalloped Indian tanned hide wrap covering a rawhide or wood band. The top of the war club shows a wrapped strand of Columbia River sand glass archaic trade beads. The base of the handle shows two strands of blue stroud clothe along with a drop of Great American Bison Buffalo fur hair. The piece shows overall fine early construction, but also has various repairs of glue holding the clothe and beads together. The club measures 24 1/2" long (without the length of the horsehair drop), 6 3/8" wide, and 1 3/4" thick.
