Pair of royal quality French flintlock pocket-size pistols with ornate silver mounts, blue and gold decorations on barrels, marked “Tordu” at breech, in near fine original condition. Circa approx. 1760. Thepair measure approx. 7-1/4” overall with 3-3/8” barrels of approx. .45 caliber smoothbore. The stocks are of figured walnut and show quality raised carving in the form of flowers around the tang and mouldedmounts. The barrels show 90% plus original fire blue finish with most of their original gold gilt. The locks are in their original flintlock condition and show a satin grey natural patina. The mounts are ornate withscrolls and roses and show small French hallmarks on butt, sideplate, triggerguard, ramrod pipes. Original to the period steel-tipped horn bodied ramrods are included. The silver mounts are unrubbed andvery crisp. The guns are fine to near excellent overall with just slight normal aging. A strong 9+ on 1-10 scale. Est: $3,500 - $7,000
