Pair of percussion saw-handle dueling/target pistols signed T. Mortimer, Maker to His Majesty London St. James St. In their original case with trade label in lid. The pair measure nearly 17" overall with 10"barrels of approx. .52 caliber smooth bore of slightly heavy weight with thick walls. The pistols remain in good to very good original condition showing a patina finish with traces of brown and case hardening on the locks.The barrels show some light cleaning and some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The lock engraving is very crisp and the locks show considerable case colors. The triggerguards show 75-85% robin's egg blue finish. The buttcap and forend cap are nicely engraved silver. The stocks are select walnut with good grain, nicely checkered, and there is a silver engraved band on the bottom of each butt. The stocksare very good plus condition with good checkering. Original ramrods are retained. The top of the case is period engraved on the carrying handle 'William Steel Quebec 1830' (Note: The last letter is fancy, and could be
