Pair of percussion dueling/target pistols by Robertson of Philadelphia, .46 caliber smoothbore, 16-3/8” overall, with 9-5/8” medium to heavyweight barrels. Adjustable single set triggers. Nicely checkered select straight grain walnut stocks, brown barrels, case hardened locks, blued triggerguards, horn forend caps, The pair remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 60-70% original brown on the barrels that is starting to thin at the edges, but still good tobacco brown color. The locks show 50-60% toning grayish case hardening with some color mixed in. The triggerguards show 10-20% blue drifting to patina. The varnish walnut stocks are very good plus with sharp checkering, some minor marks, and at least 80-90% original varnish. The pistols retain 1 iron-tipped ramrod and one German-silver tipped ramrod. The actions are crisp, the pistols show little use and no abuse. Robertson was originally allied with Kunz and was a well-regarded Philadelphia maker. Circa late 1830’s to mid 40’s. From the William R. Orbelo Collection. Est: $5,000 - $10,000
