Pair of high quality flintlock belt pistols by Gameson & Co, London. Approx. .62 caliber smoothbore, 7/8ths stock to muzzled with attached swivel ramrods, circa approx. 1810-30. 11” overall, 6” medium to slightly heavyweight barrels, measuring 7/8” across the flats. The pair are very high quality and show wide platinum bands at breeches and platinum blowout holes. The locks are nicely engraved as are the mounts. The barrels retain 80-90% original brown with striping. Some just beginning light erosion, staining, and normal aging. The escutcheons and owner’s plaques at wrist are silver, the stocks are checkered walnut and are good to very good with sharp edges, crisp checkering, a few bumps, scratches, mars, imperfections, and a few gouges on one pistol. The locks show an bright finish with sharp engraving and retain all original small parts and are in their original flintlock configuration. The mounts are nicely engraved and are drifted to a satin color. The actions are crisp, the pistols are at least very good plus overall. A very fine quality pair of the style favored by merchants and sea captains for self defense. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
