Pair of flintlock dueling pistols signed “E.C. Storm” on locks, New Orleans on barrels, approx. 15” overall with 8-1/2” heavy octagon barrels of approx. .54 caliber smoothbore. The pair are nicely engraved in script E. C. Storm on locks, and same script New Orleans on barrels. The pistols are half-stocked, and show engraved iron triggerguards, saw-handled grips, with squared butts. They are nicely checkered at the wrist and show adjustable set triggers. The pistols show gold and platinum bands at breech and platinum blowout plugs. They have been mounted with v-notch rear sides, and blade post German silver front sights which are of the period. The pair show German silver escutcheons, forend caps, and oval inlays in butt. One pistol is missing its rear ramrod pipe and is worn down there and the rods appear to have been removed long ago, possibly for better balance. The metal surfaces show light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, some slightly heavier pitting at the breech and muzzles. One barrel shows some cleaning long ago. The locks have fared better than the barrels and show considerable case hardening within a patina. The locks are in their original flintlock
