Pair of finest quality American percussion pocket pistols of deringer size, signed John Krider, Philadelphia, with ornately engraved silver mountings, gold bands and inlay, hinged compartment in back side of grip andother deluxe features including fine checkered burl wood stocks. The pair measure 7-1/2" overall, with 4" barrels of .38 cal. rifled with 7 grooves. The locks are ornately engraved in scroll motifs, with"John Krider" spelled out in banner at center. "Philadelphia" is engraved in block letters on the barrel. The silver mounts are also ornately engraved in identical scrolls matching to the lock and tang. The stocksare best quality burl walnut and are finely checkered. The breech of each pistol shows 3 gold bands; there is a gold blowout plug and gold escutcheon around barrel key. There is a gold plaque inlaid into the left side ofthe stock just behind the key which is engraved with a 5-pointed crown and pole-arm piercing the crown (This is the crest of Theodor Cuyler a respected attorney from a prominent family).
