Pair of fine percussion dueling/target pistols by Krider, Philadelphia. Cased with accessories. The pair measure 15” overall, with 7-5/8” heavy octagon barrels of approx. .45 caliber smoothbore. The pair are half-stocked in quality walnut. Nicely checkered, with adjustable set triggers and show finely engraved and blued triggerguards. German silver trim. Browned barrels, case hardened locks. One pistol shows 95-98% original brown on barrel that is still shiny, just some minor erosion and pinrprick pitting just starting in a few minor areas. The lock plate shows 95% case hardening that is very fiery. The hammer shows an expert repair at the neck using the original top with traces of case hardening going to grey. The stock is fine to near excellent with crisp checkering, some minor handling marks. The triggerguard shows 90% bright original blue. The ramrod thimble has become loose and needs to be resoldered. The original brass-tipped ramrod is included. The mate shows 85-95% original brown thinning slightly with a couple areas of erosion and pinprick pitting near muzzle.
