Pair of exhibition quality gold inlaid full side lock double barrel S x S shotguns by "John Wilkes" 79 Beak Street, London. Serial #15260 & #15261. The pair are contained within their original deluxe leather over oak case with agents label in lid and canvas cover. The guns are tastefully and beautifully engraved by a premier English engraver "K.C." (Ken Hunt) showing gold inlays of game birds on each side plate withname "John Wilkes" also showing on both sides. The bottom of each frame shows a portrait of hunting dog and each trigger guard is gold inlaid with a rabbit with gold serial numbers and gold names on barrel withbands and numbered 1 & 2 in gold. The engraving is signed on each side plate by birds. The pair show 28" barrels with 2-3/4" nitro proofs and 3-1/4 ton marking on each bottom barrel. Gun #1 is choked improved cyl right, modified left. Gun #2 is choked to match. #1 barrel wall thickness .28 on right and .28 on left and # 2 barrel wall thickness .29 on right and .28 on left.
