Pair of double-barrel percussion officer’s pistols by Collins of London. Cased with accessories, circa approx. 1845-1850, in fine to near excellent original condition. The pair measure approx. 13” overall with 6”barrels, mounted side by side, in .65 caliber smoothbore. The pistols show Damascus pattern barrels and retain 90-95% plus original brown finish with just some minor scratches and just beginning normal aging.The locks, tangs, and hammers are also near excellent with 80-90% case hardening just toning and aging with still bright colors. The triggerguards and pipes show considerable original blue starting to patina. Thecheckered and varnish wood stocks also near excellent with just minor handling and a few slight marks, scratches, etc. The markings are sharp, the pistols are well preserved showing almost no use. The actions and tangsare nicely engraved and they are double-platinum banded at the breech. The pistols are contained within an original to the period mahogany case with brass fittings. The case shows an old relining in red baise
