Pair of double-barrel flintlock pistols with original detachable shoulder stock, signed “Innes Maker to His Majesty, Edinburgh” on barrel in very good original condition. Approx. 15” overall with 8-3/4” barrels, of .54 caliber smoothbore, half stocked in select walnut, checkered grip. The pair show a light grey to brown patina on barrels with faint traces of original brown and striping. The locks show case hardening drifting to grey with some slight colors mixed in. The triggerguards show 75-85% original blue and the tang and small parts show original color. The pistols are very fine quality with double gold bands at breech, gold lined touched holes and quality engraving throughout. The stocks are good to very good with just some slight darkening with handling and age, a few minor imperfections, at least very good overall with their original detachable shoulder-stocks and are like very good condition. Undoubtedly Innes was referring to the duke of Edinburgh, to whom he had a royal appointment. The pair are in their original flintlock configuration with their original hammers, top jaws, screws, etc. Double barrel flintlock pairs of pistols with stocks have long been sought after
