Pair of deluxe percussion dueling/target pistols signed Blunt & Syms, New York. .52 caliber smoothbore. 7-1/2” medium to slightly heavy weight octagon barrels. 14” overall, half-stocked in select rosewood, silver or German silver mounted, three bands at breech, one gold, two silver. Nicely scroll engraved in fire original condition in their original French-style fitted case with deluxe accessories. Illustrated page 23, The Code of Honor: Dueling in America by Ellen N. Murry, which features the collection of Col. Orbelo. The pair remain in original tine to near excellent original condition showing 90-95% original brown finish on barrels, 70-80% case hardening on locks drifting to grey with some colorful areas. The varnished rosewood stocks are near fine with 80-90% varnish, some minor scratches, small storage marks, normal aging and handling. The checkering extremely sharp. The pair show quality engraving on locks and barrels and breaches. The mounts also nicely engraved and show cap boxes and butts. The pair are contained within their original to the period fitted in the French style green cotton velveteen line case with Dixon gun stock style lacquered flask in fine condition,
