These matching flintlock pistols were made by John Twigg of London. The pistols are all brass construction with a walnut grip. The right side of the frame is marked in script "London", in an oval surrounded by a stand of flags, and the left side has a script "Twigg" in a oval surrounded by a stand of flags. The under side of the chamber is marked with a recessed "crown/GP" and "crown/V" proof marks. The pistols have a 1 1/2 inch screw on barrel, center mounted hammer, sliding safety, folding trigger and fitted with a one piece walnut grip with decorative silver wire inlays in a scroll design, and silver thumb shield inscribed "WF". Complete in a contemporary wooden case with brass hardware, including lion head handles, red velvet lining with lace trim and photo copy of a Twigg label on the inside of the lid. The top of the lid is marked with stencil "LONDON /John Twigg/Gun Maker/est. 1740" with pointing finger. Attached to the inside of the lid are two vintage auction tags. In the case is a reproduction barrel wrench and ebony ram rod.

Condition: Good. The brass has an aged patina, with scattered dings and scratches, and tool marks. There is a bit of a gap between the grip and frame. The grip is good with most of the wire inlay remaining with some lifting and some minor dents. The action needs work, the trigger does not drop down. The markings and engraving are clear. The case and accessories are very good.
